
Below, is a simple checklist to determine whether a New Jersey resident is eligible for unemployment benefits. To be eligible for unemployment, you must show that:
1. You lost your job or your hours were substantially decreased;
2. You are eighteen (18) years of age or older;
3. You are an American citizen or lawfully present in the United States;
4. You have to worked in the United States, preferably in New Jersey or for the United
States Federal Government / Military in the last 18 months;
5. You worked under an employer – employee relationship;
6. You were paid wages for the services provided;
7. You are ready, willing, and able to work; and
8. You worked for 20 base weeks of employment earning a minimum of $200 per week or you earned at least $10,000 in total during the base year.
